George Takei, aka Star Trek's original Sulu, is getting married. Following in

the footsteps of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Takei announced on his Website that he and Brad Altman, his partner of 21 years, will be taking advantage of the new California state law allowing marriage for all couples, regardless of gender combo. Of his relationship and the opportunity to marry, Takei wrote, "We've shared the good times as well as struggled through the bad. [Brad] helped me care for my ailing mother who lived with us for the last years of her life. He is my love and I can't imagine life without him. Now, we can have the dignity, as well as all the responsibilities, of marriage. We embrace it all heartily." Takei has not yet announced wedding details, but said that he and Altman are enjoying the "delicious dilemma" of planning. He concluded, "Marriage equality took a long time, but, like fine wine, its bouquet is simply exquisite."
