Star Trek: Discovery: Spock Sees the Future in New Season 2 Trailer, and It's Not Great

The Spock (Ethan Peck) you've come to know over the years won't exactly be the one you meet in Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery. Not only will this younger version of the beloved character be rocking one glorious beard, but according to the new trailer that dropped Thursday, he'll be plagued by cryptic visions. "Someone or something is going to end all sentient life in the galaxy," he warns in the action-packed sneak peek.

The only clues we have thus far about the evil force threatening our favorite characters are a group of mysterious red orbs and the apocalyptic Red Angel that gave the famed Vulcan a glimpse at the danger that lies ahead. However, Spock isn't the only one who sees the Red Angel. "Spock has seen it in addition to Burnham," Sonequa Martin-Green teased during this year's New York Comic Con.

The upcoming season finds Captain Pike (Anson Mount) at the helm of the USS Discovery as the crew tracks down information about this imminent threat, which will be easier said than done. Things are sure to be complicated with Mirror Universe's Captain Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) aboard Discovery; only Burnham (Martin-Green) and Saru (Doug Jones) know she's masquerading as her doppelgänger from the Prime Universe and is not exactly a team player.

Watch the drama (and excitement) unfold when Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery premieres Thursday, Jan. 17 on CBS All Access.
