Melanie Brown Banned From Australia’s Got Talent

New America's Got Talent judge Melanie Brown has been banned from the reality competition's Australian edition, the Australian Associated Press reports.

The ban was issued against Brown, better known by her Spice Girls alter ego "Scary Spice," after Seven, the Australian TV network that airs The X Factor down under, filed suit to prevent Brown from appearing on any rival networks.

Seven claimed it had an exclusive agreement with Brown after she signed with competing network Channel Nine to appear as a judge on Australia's Got Talent when she thought she would not be returning to The X Factor as a judge. Although Brown's future with The X Factor is still unclear, Seven claimed in court it had planned to use Brown in a limited role.

Supreme Court Justice David Hammerschlag found in favor of Seven Network on Thursday by banning Brown from appearing on any other TV networks until Jan. 31, 2014. "Seven Network welcomes the decision of the court upholding its contract with Mel B and preventing her working for a competitor in breach of contract in 2013," a Seven spokeswoman told AAP on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Australia's Got Talent is currently on the lookout for a personality to replace Brown. "We accept the decision and are getting on with business," a Nine spokeswoman told AAP on Thursday.
