Burning Questions of the Damned: Is Tiberius Rotten? Should Spartacus Flee?

[Spoiler alert! The following contains information from the most recent Spartacus. If you haven't watched it yet, prepare for decimation!]

The magic word for Friday's episode of Spartacus: War of the Damned was "betrayal." Although Crassus (Simon Merrells) and Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) have proven to be wily leaders, they've made major errors in judgment that have created ill will among their supporters.

With all of his talk of wolves and pups, Crassus forgot that even puppies have teeth. Surprise, surprise — forcing your kid to kill his own best friend doesn't make him a healthy, upstanding and respectful person. Instead, Tiberius (Christian Antidormi) took a sneaky route to revenge — he raped his father's beloved slave Kore (Jenna Lind). On the rebel side, Spartacus' elaborate strategies came to naught when the pirate Heracleo (Vince Colosimo) turned on him after receiving a bigger bribe from the wealthy Crassus. The rebels' trust in Caesar (Todd Lasance) also bore bitter fruit when he led the Romans to batter down Sinuessa en Valle's gate.

Should Spartacus flee? Spartacus has been outsmarted by Crassus at every turn and has been dealing with major dissension in the ranks. Not only has he failed to supply his people adequately, but his leadership is on shaky ground. Now that the element of surprise is lost, the rebels best regroup and figure out how to best address what's on the other end of Crassus' battering ram.

Is Tiberius rotten? We only foresee more heartbreak and corruption eating away at Tiberius from the inside. He once cared for Kore (evidenced by his anger when Caesar tried to make moves on her), so if he's been driven to the point of raping her, it's safe to say he's no longer who he once was. The boy's hatred and jealousy is just going to escalate, and his actions will eventually come to the attention of dear old dad, who will be forced to act.
Will Kore be destroyed? The future looks bleak for this slave who has enjoyed so much privilege that she doesn't have a clue that conditions have changed and she should run now. But she cares for this family, even Tiberius. Lind tells TVGuide.com, "She loves him. He's like a brother." It's sad, but that family feeling will get her killed. Crassus' love and protection can only stretch so far. After all, he is the Imperator, and she is just a slave. Maintaining the slave system is what the Servile War is all about!
Is Crixus still on Spartacus' side? Even though Crixus (Manu Bennett) and Sparty did that bloodied handclasp after fighting side-by-side, don't expect the general to suddenly become trustworthy. Don't forget that he tried to take over command of the rebels, and probably still smarts from being left out of Spartacus' confidence when he hatched his big plan. Crixus will continue to push for engagement with Crassus and zero tolerance for Romans, no matter what.
Is Laeta in the clear? Even though Spartacus has released Laeta (Anna Hutchinson) from the horrors of Sinuessa en Valle, she's not off living the good Roman life yet. From Crassus' attitude and comments, it doesn't seem like he trusts her since she survived when so many of her fellow Romans didn't. And although he says he'll restore her to her rightful place in the city, it's not like she's the aedile's wife any longer. This lady still has hard times ahead.
