Despite some chatter on Sopranos websites calling the appearance of a crazed, violent Asian character on last night's show disconcerting so soon after the Virginia Tech massacre, an HBO spokesman tells TV Guide that the network never considered dropping the episode.

"The Sopranos episode that premiered on April 22 was actually written and filmed many, many months ago," says the spokesman. "That story line had nothing to do with campus violence, guns or mass murders. The idea that anyone would connect the tragedy at Virginia Tech with the Asian character in this episode of The Sopranos is troubling." - Reporting by Ileane Rudolph
