After 28 years and more than 16,000 hours, Regis Philbin officially bid farewell to Live! Friday morning — and as a result, it's snagged the No. 1 spot in our Social Power Rankings. While everyone is generally sad to see him go, fans are already talking about who might replace him. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Reeg! On Twitter, @mommyc58 tweeted, "Pat Sajak and Kelly [Ripa] have great chemistry, as do Kelly and Anderson Cooper." But who was she adamantly against as replacements? "Please, no Ryan Seacrest or Jeff Probst!"
"I would like to see Andy Cohen," Angie-bella2 posted to TVGuide.com. "Although I'm not a huge fan of his, if he can interrupt and get the interview going with the yelling and screeching that goes on with the Housewives reunion specials, he can definitely do so with Kelly's constant yammering." Are you on Team NPH? TVGuide.com commenter DeaconGladstone is! "Neil Patrick Harris would be my choice. How I Met Your Mother is limping towards the finish line (hopefully), and he'd love to be back in New York, especially if he wants to raise his children someplace halfway sane."
But Walt Milos isn't giving up so soon. "Why not just pay Regis the money that he deserves! Regis is that show!" he posted on our Facebook wall. "Sign him on for 2 more years and let Regis retire with some respect on his 30th year with the show in 2013!"
What do you think? Who should replace Regis on Live!?
Another hot topic this week: Stacy Francis' eviction on The X Factor (and her digs at fellow contestant Astro).
