NBC's Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special drew 23.1 million viewers Sunday night, making it the highest-rated non-Super Bowl-related prime-time event on the network in more than 10 years.

It is also NBC's highest-rated entertainment special in 10 years, since a Friends retrospective the night of the series finale, and is the most-watched SNL prime-time special since SNL's Presidential Bash in November 1992.

In the 18-49 demographic, the special posted a 7.8 rating with 21 million viewers.

The numbers reflect live viewers, and not those who watched a recorded version later.

Dozens of current and former cast members, including Chevy Chase, Jimmy Fallon, Dan Aykroyd and Tina Fey, returned for the special, which aired live on Feb. 15.
