Question: Any news on who'll play the new editor of the "Daily Planet" on Smallville (Ausiello Report 6/4)?
Answer: I'll tell you who won't be playing him: the erstwhile Clark Kent Dean Cain. "Interestingly, we want to have Dean on the show this year, but I doubt it's going to be in this role," exec producer Al Gough told my colleague Rich Sands. "We had thought about it, but I don't think we can make that work for a number of reasons, none of which, by the way, are creative. It's scheduling, financial, things like that. But the plan is to have Dean Cain on the show this year." So who is Gough eyeing to play the "Planet" boss? "We'd love to stunt-cast it with a great person, and we're going to audition for that."
