Sleepy Hollow been renewed for a second season, Fox announced Thursday.

"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking — it's a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast," Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement. "I can't wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season Two."

The drama stars Tom Mison as a resurrected Ichabod Crane who pairs up with a present-day police lieutenant (Nicole Beharie) to save the mysterious town of Sleepy Hollow. The premiere scored 13.6 million viewers, the network's best debut since 24 in 2001. 

The second season order is for 13 episodes, the same as the show's current run, which ends at midseason.

Sleepy Hollow airs Mondays at 9/8c on Fox.
