The Simpsons are building on their success — literally. The long-running animated series is getting the LEGO treatment this May, with a cool new set of figurines from the popular construction-toy giant. The release is timed to coincide with a special LEGO-themed episode of the show, which is set to air Sunday, May 4 at 8/7c on Fox.

The LEGO Group is releasing 16 mini-figures based on Simpsons characters: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Krusty the Clown, Chief Wiggum, Ralph Wiggum, Milhouse, Apu, Grandpa, Nelson Muntz, Itchy and Scratchy. (Earlier this year the company released a set to build the Simpsons famed house at 742 Evergreen Terrace.)

The entire line will be available starting May 1 at major retailers, brick-and-mortar LEGO Stores and at lego.com for $3.99 each.
