Looks like Season 1 will be a standalone
Seven Seconds had its fifteen seconds of fame, but if you were hoping for more, then prepare to be disappointed.
Netflix confirmed today to Variety that it will not be moving forward with a Season 2 of Seven Seconds, stating that the show's standalone nature does not call for one. "We loved working with Veena Sud, Regina King and the cast and crew of Seven Seconds," said Netflix's VP, Original Content, Cindy Holland. "Together they created a compelling, timely and relevant crime drama. The first season is a complete, standalone story that we are proud to feature on Netflix for years to come."
Seven Seconds told the story of an African-American teenager in Jersey City who was struck and killed by a car driven by a white police officer. After his death was covered up, racial tensions ran high and ignited conflict within the city.
This is Netflix's fourth cancellation in 2018, following Everything Sucks, Lady Dynamite and Disjointed.
