Late Night's Seth Meyers to Host 66th Primetime Emmy Awards

Late-night host Seth Meyers is hitting prime time.
The former Saturday Night Livehead writer and current host of Late Night with Seth Meyershas been chosen to host the upcoming 66th Primetime Emmy Awards this summer, NBC announced Thursday.

"Seth's expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys," Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment's President of Late Night and Alternative Programming, said in a statement.
"Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards," added Bruce Rosenblum, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy. 
Meyers left SNL and its "Weekend Update" desk in February shortly before heading over to his new digs at Late Night, which he took over from Jimmy Fallon. On Thursday, Meyers was also named one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world for 2014. In light of this new gig, the magazine was right.
The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air its live three-hour telecast on Monday, Aug. 25 at 8/7c on NBC.
