Scarlett Johansson Gives Birth to Baby Girl

Actress Scarlett Johansson gave birth to a baby girl in New York City on Thursday, The Associated Press reports. It is the first child for Johansson and her fiancé Romain Dauriac.

And despite the couple's own less than common first names, the new parents went the classic route by naming their girl Rose Dorothy. Dorothy is the name of Johansson's grandmother, and Rose is, like Scarlett, another shade of red.

The craziest celebrity baby names

Johansson's pregnancy was first announced in March. A rep for the 29-year-old actress says mother and baby are doing well and are seeking privacy in support of the No Kids Policy, the idea that celebrity children be kept out of the media's eye.

Johansson, who starred in The Avengers and this year's Lucy, and Dauriac got engaged in September 2013. She was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds.
