After an Emmy win, a Critics Choice nomination and three NAACP Image Awards, Joe Morton, who plays Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) sinister dad on Scandal, got promoted to series regular, The Hollywood Reporter notes. That means Rowan Pope will be around much longer to frighten the bejesus out of everyone.
"Now I can cast some serious shade on a regular basis," he told the publication.
Morton, an accomplished actor who's starred in films (Speed, American Gangster) and stage (earning a Tony nomination for his 1974 turn in A Raisin in the Sun) first appeared in Season 2 and has, over the course of three seasons, killed Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) son, turned Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) into his most faithful subordinate and attempted to assassinate Olivia's mom among other wonderful daddy-daughter bonding rituals. Father of the year, that guy!
Anyway, congratulations Mr. Morton. Will you be tuning in to see how Morton's role expands?
