Scandal star Columbus Short was arrested on Wednesday by the Claremont Police Department on a charge of felony battery, Deadline.com reports.

Short, 31, was released on $50,000 bail. His arrest comes one day after he was charged with felony battery with serious bodily harm stemming from a March 15 altercation at a West Hollywood restaurant in which he allegedly punched a man at an engagement party. The victim suffered a broken nose and was rendered unconscious for several minutes.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in state prison.

Short, who has been on the hit ABC drama since Season 1, is expected to be arraigned within the next 30 days. His arrest didn't affect production on the series, which is scheduled to wrap its shortened 18-episode season this week.

TMZ.com also reports that Short has been arrested several other times for violent behavior, including twice in February because of alleged physical altercations with his wife. He pled not guilty to spousal battery and child abuse on Tuesday, according to the site.
