Longtime Hollywood couple Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have split, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins, have announced that they separated over the summer," her rep, Teal Cannaday, said in a statement.
Sarandon, 63, and Robbins, 51, were never married but were one of the most enduring couples in the entertainment industry. The two Oscar winners — she for Dead Man Walking and he for Mystic River — have two children together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17.
The pair met on the set of the 1988 baseball classic Bull Durham, in what proved to be Robbins' breakthrough role. Sarandon was previously married to Chris Sarandon and has a daughter, Californication actress Eva Amurri, 24, from her relationship with director Franco Amurri.
Aside from their status as members of Hollywood's A-list, the two were both well-known for their activism, exemplified in their longtime political advocacy and outspokenness.
Sarandon appeared on Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday but made no mention of the split. Sarandon is currently promoting her new film The Lovely Bones.
