Sarah Silverman slammed "Bernie or bust" voters for being "ridiculous" during her remarks at the Democratic National Convention Monday night, and later told CNN that the comment was completely off book.

Silverman brought up the "Bernie or bust" crowd after she and comedian Al Franken were instructed to stretch their speeches for time because the convention was going ahead of schedule. "It wasn't scripted at all," Silverman told CNN's Jake Tapper afterwards.

As she and Franken introduced musician Paul Simon, Silverman -- herself a Sanders backer -- called Sanders supporters who are now refusing to vote for Hillary Clinton "nutso" and said: "Can I just say to the 'Bernie or bust' people, you're being ridiculous." The comment was met with raucous applause that later turned into competing chants of "Hillary" and "Bernie" (to Silverman's apparent chagrin).
