Samuel L. Jackson Bashes Negative Avengers Review
Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson is not taking criticism well.
After the New York Times ran a less-than-glowing review of Jackson's film The Avengers, the actor blasted critic A.O. Scott on Twitter. "#Avengers fans, NY Times critic AO Scott needs a new job!" he tweeted. "Let's help him find one! One he can ACTUALLY do!"
While Scott didn't completely trash the film, which hit theaters Friday, he wrote that The Avengers' "failures are significant and dispiriting" and called Jackson's S.H.I.E.L.D. commander Nick Fury "more master of ceremonies than mission commander."

Jackson's tweet prompted many of his followers to chime in. The Film Nest wrote, "Disappointed to hear @SamuelLJackson respond irrationally to negative review of #Avengers. People aren't entitled to their own opinion?" Jackson immediately responded: "That is My Opinion! @TheFilmNest & what's irrational about it? They aren't going to fire his jaundiced a-- & You & I Know It!"
For his part, Scott tells E! Online that he understands Jackson's anger and is not offended by his comments.
"I don't think Mr. Jackson is actually trying to get me fired," Scott says. "Actors and filmmakers sometimes respond angrily to negative reviews — I can't say I blame them — and Twitter is a relatively new and very public forum for that. Rallying 'fans' against skeptical critics is a time-honored tactic, and I don't take it personally."
