This looks better than The Force Awakens
Here we go again: The first trailer forRogue One: A Star Wars Story has arrived.
Set shortly before the events of A New Hope, the film stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, a defiant Rebel who leads a small team of rogues on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star - the same plans Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) stored in R2-D2's memory bank in the original film.
Directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards, Rogue One feels completely different from the Star Wars trilogy films while still fitting into the universe George Lucas created in 1977. It's also the first of many standalone Star Wars films in the works. A Han Solo spin-off movie is slated for 2018 and another anthology film, rumored to be about Boba Fett, is scheduled for 2020.
But first, there's Rogue One, which hits theaters on Dec.16. Watch the first trailer below.
