Robert Durst, the New York real estate heir who is the subject of HBO's documentary series The Jinx, was arrested Saturday in New Orleans on murder charges, ABC News reports.
Fall TV Scorecard: What's renewed? What's canceled?
Durst, 71, is a person of interest in three unsolved homicides or missing persons cases dating back to 1982, including that of his first wife Kathy Durst, longtime friend Susan Berman and his neighbor Morris Black. He was arrested Saturday on a homicide warrant issued by Los Angeles police, which has reopened its investigation into Berman's 2000 death as a result of The Jinx.
HBO released a statement Sunday in the wake of Durst's arrest, saying: "We simply cannot say enough about the brilliant job that Andrew Jarecki and Marc Smerling did in producing The Jinx. Years in the making, their thorough research and dogged reporting reignited interest in Robert Durst's story with the public and law enforcement."
Durst's attorney says he will not fight extradition to Los Angeles.
Durst's arrest coincides with the final episode of The Jinx, which airs Sunday at 8/7c on HBO.
