MTV's The Hard Times of RJ Berger revolves around awkward moments; luckily, its star thrives on them.
"I've made a career [out of awkward moments] at this point," Paul Iacono tells TVGuide.com.
RJ Berger follows an unpopular teen who's thrust into the high school spotlight when his rather large member is revealed. At the heart of the somewhat sexually explicit show is a coming-of-age story that Iacono says people can identify with.
"It's funny and relatable and everyone goes through RJ Berger moments in life — especially in high school," he says.
Season 2, which debuted last week to 3.1 million viewers, focuses heavily on Berger and his ultimate crush Jenny, played by Amber Lancaster, getting together. But Iacono hints, "Sometimes the dream girl isn't everything the dream's cracked up to be."
The Hard Times of RJ Berger airs Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.
