The Red Hot Chili Peppers Don't Seem to Know the Words to Their Own Songs

They did Carpool Karaoke, but they didn't really sing along

I don't think the members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers who aren't lead singer Anthony Kiedis know the words to any Red Hot Chili Peppers songs.

If you'll notice in this Carpool Karaoke, only Kiedis and host James Corden are singing along to RHCP hits like "Give It Away" and "Under the Bridge." The other guys -- drummer/Will Ferrell lookalike Chad Smith, bassist Flea and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer -- are pantomiming playing their instruments, but not singing along. And the point of Carpool Karaoke is to sing along.

Klinghoffer not knowing the words I get. He hasn't been in the band very long. Also he seems camera-shy (or perhaps like he doesn't want to be there). But Flea and Smith have no excuse. They've been playing some of these songs for more than 30 years. They'll occasionally join in on the choruses, but they never do verses.

It's possible, however, that the members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, like the rest of us, have no idea what Kiedis is singing. It's all just incomprehensible gibberish.

See for yourself in the video above.
