Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kyle Richards: I Will Never Know What Pushed Camille

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills may have been trying to avoid the dramatic fireworks of Housewives casts past  But five episodes in, the ladies of 90210 seemed to have landed on an explosive landmine with the feud between cast mates Kyle Richards and Camille Grammer. For those not up to speed, Grammer accused Richards of saying no one would be interested in her without her husband [actor Kelsey Grammer], while Richards insists she did no such thing. Unfortunately, the cameras weren't around to catch that disputed conversation. "It is so frustrating to me, I can't even tell you," Richards tells TVGuide.com. "I do not know how that turned into [what Camille said]. I will never know." However, the cameras caught plenty of the subsequent drama between the two that continues on Thursday's episode, titled "The Art of War." (Thank you, Sun Tzu, who first used that title in the sixth century B.C.) The 41-year-old mother of four and former child star spoke with TVGuide.com about her clash with Camille and her...

TVGuide.com: Was it hard to watch your argument with Camille unfold?
Kyle Richards:
It was so hard. The night that that happened, no one slept a wink. All of us were so upset and we were like, "This is not what I signed up for. I didn't want the show to become like this." I know I was naïve in thinking this, but I really thought we could do this show and not have problems and drama like that. I thought that, because all the women have so much going on in their lives, that we didn't need that. Then the next thing you know, there were problems starting off-camera. It was very upsetting to all of us.

TVGuide.com: It seemed like you were initially able to resolve things with Camille, but then she was upset with you at dinner. What happened that changed her mind?
Richards:
I don't know. Lisa and I were down there first, and then she came down [angry]. I was like, "What happened?" Lisa kept saying, "What happened from there to here? Why are you upset?" I really don't know. We don't see eye-to-eye so I can't really understand why that happened.

TVGuide.com: Looking back at that dinner scene and the previews for this week's episode, do you have any regrets about how you handled the situation?
Richards:
Every time I watch these episodes, it brings up everything that I was feeling at that time, good and bad. When I'm upset, I'm just a very honest person. What you see is what you get. Unfortunately, when I'm upset a horrible four-letter word will come out of my mouth now and then. I wish I could control it, but I obviously wasn't able to. I really don't think about the cameras, I tune them out. When I told my sister, Kathy [Hilton], I was going to do the show. Kathy's like, "Don't swear. Don't swear." I told her I wouldn't, but you've got to be yourself.

5 things to know about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

TVGuide.com: What has your relationship been like with Camille since the New York trip?
Richards:
I think that both of us had to get to a point to know that not everybody is meant to be friends. That's the only way to really move forward. We tried, but every time we tried, it just got worse.

TVGuide.com: You seem to be striking a chord with viewers so far. Why do you think that is?
Richards:
It's pretty funny. I don't know. Maybe they can tell that I'm being myself and being honest. I know that a lot of people make that comment to me.  There are some people who think I shouldn't always be so honest and keep my mouth shut, but a majority respect that I'm showing all sides, the good, the bad and the ugly.

TVGuide.com: You've been on TV before, but how has it been to see your real life on camera?
Richards:
It's weird. Whenever I see myself acting, I sit there going "Oh, God. Oh, God. Was that the right choice?" With this, it's like "Oh, there I am. Is that what I look I like?" But I feel like when I'm watching this, I feel I'm 100 percent myself. My friends always say to me, "That's exactly how you are." I knew going into this, I had to be myself 100 percent or it wouldn't do well. In that sense, I feel good about it even though sometimes I think, I can't believe that I said that or did that. It is what it is. I'm not perfect.

TVGuide.com: How has it been watching the other women on the show?
Richards:
I've enjoyed watching them a lot, especially Adrienne and Paul together. I think it's funny how they interact with each other and bicker like that. I think I re-watched that scene in the restaurant with the turkey four times. I don't know why it made me laugh so hard. And I love Lisa. Everything she does is grand, so I love watching that too. I've been very entertained as a viewer.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Thursday at 10/9c on Bravo.
