Ray Donovan Producer Pleads Guilty in Gambling Case

Ray Donovan executive producer Bryan Zuriff has plead guilty to running an illegal gambling ring, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Zuriff submitted the plea in federal court Thursday in New York. "Bryan Zuriff spanned the coasts with his crimes, by operating his own illegal gambling enterprise in Los Angeles, and helping to operate a vast illegal gambling enterprise in New York," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement. "With his plea, he becomes the first defendant, but not the last, to be convicted in this sprawling script of criminal conduct."

Zuriff faces up to five years in prison when sentenced in November and will forfeit $500,000.

In April, 34 people were indicted for their role in two Russian-American crime enterprises. Combined, the organizations laundered $100 million from illegal gambling, which included celebrity poker games.

Ray Donovan debuted June 30 with the biggest original series launch in Showtime history. It was renewed for a second season on July 16.
