It's almost to the point where I need not report it as "news": Tuesday's American Idol dominated the night, reeling in an average of 32.5 meeeelion viewers over its two-hour run. Playing the roles of also-rans were NCIS at 8 pm (with an audience of 17.6 million) and freshman hit The Unit at 9 pm (17.8 mil). The 10 o'clock race was a squeaker, with a Law & Order: SVU repeat (11.2 million) edging out Boston Legal (10.6 mil) and The Amazing Race (9.6 mil).
