The Whole Truth may have just granted itself a continuance.
The freshman ABC legal drama drew 4.5 million viewers Wednesday, according to overnight Nielsen estimates, but the show reversed its downward trend in the 18-to-49 demographic, bouncing back 17 percent. The show was still third in its 10/9c timeslot, however.
Meanwhile its competitors, CBS' The Defenders (9.3 million viewers) and NBC's Law & Order: Los Angeles (8.2 million viewers), were down 16 percent and 25 percent in the demo, respectively, with The Defenders putting up the worst performance in the timeslot for CBS since 2003.
Still, CBS tied with Fox for the win, thanks to Survivor: Nicaragua (11.8 million viewers), which was up 3 percent in the demo from the previous week, and Criminal Minds (13.7 million viewers), which fell only slightly. Fox's two-hour Hell's Kitchen averaged 6.6 million viewers and improved 6 percent in the demo from the previous week.
ABC took third, with freshman comedy Better with You (6.9 million viewers) improving a bit in the demo. The Middle (7.9 million viewers) was down 4 percent, Cougar Town (7.2 million viewers) improved 11 percent and Modern Family (11.3 million viewers) held steady in the demo to remain the night's highest-rated show.
