RATINGS: TWO STRONG DEBUTS

While American Idol and its 28.3 million total fans steamrolled along as the night's champ — and goosed House's audience to an impressive 20.6 mil — Tuesday also saw two solid premieres. CBS' The Unit ranked second in the 9 pm hour with 18.2 million samplers, while across the dial the double-episode debut of ABC's Sons & Daughters averaged 7.92 mil, besting Scrubs' own one-two punch. Not all the ratings news was good, however: Joey's return was witnessed by just 3.95 million viewers, while The Amazing Race's new 10 pm berth drew a dearth of fans, losing 52 percent of The Unit's audience. That's not so amazing.
