The Sing-Off  kept up its solid ratings performance Wednesday, placing a strong second to its CBS competition, the penultimate episode of Survivor: Nicaragua and a new episode of Criminal Minds.

Survivor scored a 3.5 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic and 12.8 million viewers, followed by Minds at 9, which posted a 3.2 and 13.8 million. But the two-hour Sing-Off remained unfazed (2.9, 8.4 million).

And if Gordon Ramsey doesn't have enough things to throw temper tantrums about, Sing-Off  outpaced the finale of Fox's Hell's Kitchen, which put up a 2.6 and 5.9 million at 9. Back-to-back reruns of Modern Familyposted an average 2.1 and audience of 5.9 million.

 Sing-Off was down slightly from Monday but up a whopping 38 percent from the previous Wednesday outing. In contrast, Hell's Kitchen was 21 percent below its summer finale, and Survivor had its lowest ever next-to-last outing.

Elsewhere at 8: An original episode of Fox's Human Target (1.5)and reruns of The Middle (1.5) and Better With You (1.3) on ABC. And at 10, The Defenders won its timeslot (2.0, 10.2 million) against a repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2.0, 6.9 million) and Cougar Town (1.3, 3.3 million).
