Scandal  was the sole show to improve Thursday on what was a down night overall.
The drama returned to 7.8 million viewers and a 2.8 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, up two tenths from its last new episode to tie a series high. Lead-in Grey's Anatomy (8.1 million, 2.7) was down a tenth.

Facing the NFL draft, every show on CBS and NBC hit season or series lows, including The Big Bang Theory (14.4 million, 4.2), which fell a full point, but was still the night's top show.American Idol (11.1 million, 2.7) also dropped to a series low, while Glee (5.2 million, 1.8) fell three-tenths.The Vampire Diaries' backdoor pilot "The Originals" drew 2.2 million viewers and a 0.9, down a tenth from its last new episode.
