Oh, baby! The long-awaited arrival of Jim and Pam's child helped The Office win its hour among adults 18-to-49, besting Grey's Anatomy and boosting The Marriage Ref to equally strong numbers.
The Office's one-hour episode drew 9 million viewers, but it easily defeated ABC's Grey's Anatomy (11.8 million viewers) and CSI (15.6 million viewers) in the coveted demo. Despite the loss, Grey's was up 8 percent over its last new episode.
Following The Office, The Marriage Ref scored 7.7 million viewers, but also won its hour in the demo, giving NBC some hope in its post-Jay Leno Show lineup. (NBC has improved to third overall three nights in a row.) The Peacock kicked off its night with Community (5.1 million viewers) and Parks and Recreation (4.6 million viewers), both on par with their previous new episodes.
CBS was the night's most-watched network, but came in second in the demo. Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains drew 12.4 million viewers and The Mentalist returned to 14.8 million viewers. Survivor and CSI were up from their last outings by 3 percent and 16 percent, respectively, while The Mentalist dumped 14 percent of its demo rating against Marriage Ref.
ABC bookended the new episode of Grey's with a Grey's repeat (4.8 million viewers) and a fresh Private Practice (8.1 million viewers), which suffered its lowest demo rating since moving to Thursday.
