Ratings: Bent Premiere Flounders; Whitney and Chelsea Rise

Bent is all but broken.
The Amanda Peet comedy premiered Wednesday to a dismal 2.8 million viewers and a 1.0 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic. Its second episode fell to 2.4 million and a 0.9. The numbers are the worst for a new NBC comedy premiere all season. Whitney, Are You There, Chelsea?, Up All Night and Free Agents all opened to at least 6 million viewers and at least a point higher in the demo.
The good news for NBC (and salt in the wound for Bent): Lead-ins Whitney (4.2 million, 1.6) and Chelsea (3.5 million, 1.4) rose in both categories.

Fox won the night with American Idol (16.55 million, 4.9), down slightly from last week.CBS took second place, despite two of its shows, Survivor: One World (10.2 million, 2.7) and CSI(11.2, 2.5), dropping 10 percent. Criminal Minds (11.9 million, 3.2), however, rebounded after hitting a series low in the demo last week.ABC aired all repeats except for Happy Endings (4.12 million, 1.8), which fell 20 percent without the benefit of a new Modern Family lead-in.8 p.m.
