Randy Travis Charged with DUI

Randy Travis has been formally charged with drunken driving stemming from an August arrest, E! News reports.

Travis, 53, crashed his car in Sherman, Texas on Aug. 7 and was arrested and jailed after being found by the side of the road naked. Toxicology tests later found the country music singer to have a blood-alcohol content greater than .15, nearly twice the legal limit.

Travis faces a maximum two-year sentence and a $4,000 fine. He's also currently under investigation for felony retaliation.

"Randy has a lot of respect for law enforcement in Grayson [County]," Travis' attorney told E! "He's cooperating fully. He recognizes his situation and he is tending to his personal matters. And we will decide between now and the end of the month whether he pleads not guilty or agrees to another plea that involves rehabilitation."

Last month, Travis pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault from an incident that occurred just weeks after his drunken driving arrest.
