Question: Growing up in New York in the late '80s and early '90s I watched a show by the name of Degrassi Jr. High on PBS. I believe it originated from Canada. Whatever happened to it and is it available on home video? — Vivian, Limerick, Maine

Televisionary: The old show has, as my dad is fond of saying, gone bye-bye, Vivian, but you can read a bit about it (and its availability) in my July 31, 2001 column (third question down).

Now, before my numerous foes and my perpetually cranky boss accuse me of subbing in a link to an old answer for the actual work of banging out a new one, let me just say I'm taking the opportunity to present new information here. If your cable or satellite provider carries the most excellent Noggin channel (and I allow myself to gush over something that's commercial free and educational, so back off), you can watch the all-new Degrassi: The Next Generation, now in its second season and brought to you by the same folks who produced the earlier Degrassi shows.

Feel free to drop by our lovable listings to configure your channel line-up and see if it's available in your area. And have a look at the official Degrassi site, Degrassi.tv, which includes info on all the various series.
