Question: What was the name of a short-lived show about a band whose members see ghosts? It was on Fox or UPN in 1999 or 2000. It was about rock musicians who found a medallion that enabled them to see ghosts. All the ghosts had unresolved issues and wanted help in moving on. Thanks. — T.B., Chicago, Ill.

Televisionary: You're thinking of the WB's Dead Last, which debuted in August 2001.

Sort of a cross between Scooby Doo and The Archies — only it was live-action, the ghosts were real instead of faking it and it was much more gruesome — the show centered on, as you say, a traveling band whose drummer, Scotty (Tyler Labine), found an ancient medallion that gave its finders the power to communicate with the dead. Scotty's fellow Problem (that was the band's name) members Vaughn (Kett Turton) and Jane (Sara Downing) could also see the apparitions, which needed to be helped into the next world. Our heroes, of course, got no rest until they were.

The premise was a hit when it included the Mystery Machine and a goofy Great Dane, but it didn't have much life this time around. Dead Last — I have to say it, don't I? — died about a month after its launch.
