The judges on Project Runway (Wednesday at 10 pm/ET, Bravo) shocked designers and fans alike when they auf'd favorite Kevin Christiana, whose designs had always scored high. But the already successful designer doesn't have any harsh feelings — or any regrets. He gave TVGuide.com an update on what he's up to and told us who he thinks will make it to Bryant Park.

TVGuide.com: I'm also from New Jersey, and everything you said about prom was true, right down to tanning. I think my date went more than I did.
Kevin Christiana:
Yeah. [Laughs] I think we tend to do that metrosexual thing in New Jersey.

TVGuide.com: What was your first thought upon finding out what the challenge was and meeting your client?
Kevin:
I was confident at first. Young girls, real women challenges. I've done well with those in the past. I was just a little worried about working with undeveloped body types.... It was more difficult than we all anticipated.

TVGuide.com: Do you think it was the budget, the materials or the models in general?
Kevin:
I think it was the models in general, and everyone at that point was so exhausted. I think we were over the fact that we had to design something for another non-model challenge. Just when we get used to our models again, we get thrown another non-model challenge.

TVGuide.com: This is a competition for the models as well. Were they missed?
Kevin:
Yeah, because finally after the second episode, I got the model that I wanted [Amanda] and I loved working with her. She was awesome and I wish I had gotten the chance to work with her more.

TVGuide.com: Is there anything you would have done differently with this challenge?
Kevin:
The one thing about these challenges is that I don't overthink anything. I just go with the flow.... I like to move on with my decision making. If it's bad, it's bad. I'll just get over it and move forward.

TVGuide.com: You had never placed in the bottom before, whereas Ricky and Christian both had. Were you surprised by the judges' decision?
Kevin:
Yes. As soon as Ricky was excused, I knew it was going to be me. I had Rami next to me, who had immunity, and Christian, who is extremely talented and perfect for the show. So I was thinking, "I'm going home today. This is crazy."

TVGuide.com: Christian definitely has a personality that stands out. Did you have a love/hate relationship with him?
Kevin:
Nah, I love that kid. We all do. We're all in our thirties and forties, and after being in the business for a while, you kind of stay humble. Everyone is really cool on the show this year. Everything that came out of Christian's mouth made us laugh our asses off.

TVGuide.com: Of all the challenges, which one was your favorite?
Kevin:
The weight-loss challenge. I loved that [one]. My model was awesome. I understood her and I even shocked myself when I saw that episode. She was so happy and felt so good. What they did was remarkable with all that weight loss, and it was really great to be a part of it.

TVGuide.com: What have you been up to since the show wrapped?
Kevin:
I'm trying to get everything ready for my next collections. As the season was progressing, more opportunities presented [themselves]. I've become a smarter designer. For women's wear, I want to make a nice, tight collection and sell quality-made clothes at an affordable price point from an American designer, on top of men's dress shirts, because there is always a need for that. And I work on The Rachael Ray Show. She [took] me under her wing, so I'm doing some stuff with her as well.

TVGuide.com: Who do you think will make it to Bryant Park?
Kevin:
My two favorite designers on the show are Jillian and Christian. I like the way they execute their designs, their vision, the quality of clothing and who they are.

TVGuide.com: I'm happy to hear how well you're doing, but I have to admit I was sorry to see you go.
Kevin:
Yeah, my family — forget it. They were bawling. I'm fine, though. Don't worry. It's good. Nothing but good things will come out of this. If I had shown crap up to this point, I'd be miserable, but I didn't, so I'm OK with it.

TVGuide.com: You got to exit with your pride....
Kevin:
Integrity is a huge factor in my life. That's who I am as a person and that's who I was on the show.
