Rick Rubin is considered one of the best - and coolest - music producers in the business, having co-founded Def Jam records and being instrumental in crafting landmark albums for LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and many more. Turns out though, he's a Star Wars geek too.
As a complement to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rubin curated a EDM compilation called Star Wars Headspace, which uses elements from Star Wars films. Wookie roars, Darth Vader's heavy breathing, R2-D2 bloops - it's all here, and rather glorious. The album, out Feb. 19, features some of the hottest names in electronica, including Flying Lotus and Röyksopp. It's also got the endorsement of none other than J.J. Abrams, who appears on the album, as does Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also contributed songs for The Force Awakens' cantina sequence.
Check out some of the tracks below, which were previewed on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show. Do the tunes do the franchise justice?
