Private Practice's Series Finale to Feature Addison's Wedding

Addison Forbes Montgomery (formerly Shepherd) will soon be adding another name: Reilly!

That's right, Addison (Kate Walsh) and Jake (Benjamin Bratt) are getting married in the Private Practiceseries finale, airing Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10/9c on ABC.

During "In Which We Say Goodbye," Addison will take her second trip down the aisle — and yes, they actually say "I do!" "I feel like the fans have been with us so long and Addison has been through so much torture, angst and suffering that I think it's really beautiful to send her off this way," Walsh tells TVGuide.com on set for the filming of the happy occasion.

Since Addison was previously married — she and Grey's Anatomy's Derek (Patrick Dempsey) split after she had an affair with Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) — how will Addison feel about going for Round 2? "It's very surreal because it's her second wedding, obviously," Walsh says. "She's not a spring chicken, but walking down an aisle is still walking down an aisle. It feels like a very ceremonial moment."

"For me, it feels like I'm being sent off personally into the world," she continues, comparing Addison's journey to that of her own. "It feels very calm, peaceful and right and I was a little nervous, oddly. To be able to have this closing ritual, in a way, with all the cast is really important."

The whole Oceanside Wellness crew will be in attendance, even former member Naomi (Audra McDonald) — as we predicted — returns for the occasion, which makes Addison feel like her wedding is actually real now. "It turns out that Naomi has a lot going on herself so having Addison be able to witness Naomi's life and what steps she's going to take and bring that relationship full circle — really full circle — in a way that I never expected is really cool for me."

Still, Walsh recognizes those AddiSam fans out there, who had hoped Addison's end game would've been with Sam (Taye Diggs). "Ultimately, the choice is [executive producer] Shonda Rhimes' and I think we've got a great twist coming up," Walsh says, noting that Diggs jokingly yelled out "Slut!" while she was standing at the altar, a nod to the revolving door of men Addison has been with throughout the years. That certainly won't make the cut, but maybe it'll land in the blooper reel?
