Despite reports to the contrary, it doesn't look like Princess Diaries 3 is happening. Entertainment Weekly reports that a source close to Disney denied that any sequel or reboot is in development.

It's been 14 years since Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews first teamed up and taught us all about royal etiquette in Genovia. And ever since the 2004 sequel, Royal Engagement, there have been rumors about revisiting the film series.

On Tuesday, The Tracking Board reported Princess Diaries 3 would reboot the franchise and may or may not include Hathaway. However, the source denied to EW any plans for a new Princess Diaries film.

That doesn't mean Princess Diaries 3 could never happen. There's more than enough source material for another movie. Princess Diaries was based on Meg Cabot's 2000 novel, but the author has released nine other books in the series, as well as multiple half-volumes.

And in 2012, Andrews told Access Hollywood that she would be open to returning if they ever revisited the film series.

"I would never say no because Disney's so wonderfully clever and inventive," Andrews said, "but I would think they'll stay with just the two because of Annie."
