Presidio Med's Fertility Question
Ever notice what a baby crazy show CBS's Presidio Med is? All these miscarriages, fertility woes and preemie-in-crisis plots! These folks practically make Lifetime's programming look butch. One intriguing storyline was the science-nerdy flirtation of Dr. Jules Keating ( Julianne Nicholson) and Dr. Matt Slingerland ( Paul Blackthorne). She asked him to sire her a child — via in vitro fertilization — and he agreed to share his seed, since he had a big crush on Jules. Then, although pregnant with possibility, this story was dropped. What's up with the baby-making plan?
"I think that's still in the pipeline, so to speak," Blackthorne quips to TV Guide Online. "I think we'll just have to see what happens. I'm not too sure just yet. But I'm sure my character would love to have a biological affair with Jules. He would prefer to get a little more intimate than a Petrie dish!"
To be frank, we're surprised Jules didn't just collect Matt's sperm donation the ol' fashioned way! (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) In case you hadn't noticed, his portrayer's tall, dapper and speaks with that lovely British accent. Actually, when MGM auditions replacements for Pierce Brosnan as their big-screen James Bond, they oughta bring in Paul Blackthorne to read for the part.
"If I had a dollar for every time somebody said that to me," the would-be 007 chuckles, "I'd have a sock full of dollars. I get that a lot, especially when I put a suit on and comb my hair.
"I've been doing this scruffy, unshaven look off camera for years," Blackthorne adds, grinning. "It's very funny... My mother was here for Thanksgiving, and she came down to visit the set. After I had a shave and went into wardrobe and makeup, she just kept looking at me all morning going, 'You look so normal! I've never seen you look like this! It's extraordinary!' My mother was certainly taken aback. It made her day."
