As far as bombs go, this one's a doozy: Eddie Murphy's big-budget sci-fi comedy The Adventures of Pluto Nash crashed and burned at the box office. The film — which cost a reported $90 million — opened in 10th place with $2 million. It was the worst debut of Murphy's career. Faring much better was Vin Diesel, whose XXX grossed $23 million to remain the No. 1 movie for a second straight weekend. Its 10-day total stands at $84.9 million. At No. 2 and showing no signs of fading was the Mel Gibson spooker Signs, which collected another $19.5 million for a $150.7 million cume. Surfer girl pic Blue Crush debuted at No. 3 with $15.2 million, followed by Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams (No. 4 with $11.6 million) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (No. 5 with $8.7 million).
