Phineas and Ferb's genius summer vacationer Phineas and secret agent Perry the Platypus (a.k.a. "Agent P") are getting the Disney Infinity treatment.
The first Phineas and Ferb Toy Pack for Disney Infinity, a so-called "sandbox" game from Disney Interactive, goes on sale nationwide April 1. First announced at the 2014 Toy Fair, the game features Phineas and Agent P as controllable avatars as they go on secret spy missions and defeat enemies using tools such as Phineas' baseball shooter and Agent P's flying fedora.
Phineas and Ferb is the latest among nearly 50 other Disney franchises that have already been added to Disney Infinity. Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh actively consulted on the game.
"The Infinity universe already has all these other characters from shows and movies that we have loved and grown up with," Povenmire says. "It's great company to keep. Phineas is up on the same billboard as Jack Sparrow and Mickey Mouse and Buzz Lightyear and all these great characters."
Disney Infinity also allows users the opportunity to customize their world to mimic Danville and the Tri-State Area (the show's setting), as well as interact with other Disney characters. "The toy box area in Infinity is where kids can build whatever they want to build and create their own games and environment," Povenmire says. "That to us is the very essence of the theme of our show, which is all about celebrating creativity and making the most of your day and making your own fun."
Marsh says he was drawn to the idea of "empowering kids to build wacky wonderful things... In hindsight we would have been really angry if they hadn't included us in something that was so clearly perfect for Phineas and Ferb."
