In addition to bequeathing his entire estate to his estranged partner, Mimi O'Donnell, Hoffman left specific instructions in his will dictating that his son be raised in New York City.
Hoffman, who died from an apparent overdose on Feb. 2, wrote his will back in 2004 at which time he only had one son, Cooper, who is now 10 years old.
In the will, Hoffman requested the Cooper be raised in Manhattan so that he could be surrounded by all the culture, arts and architecture the city has to offer. If New York City was not a possible option, Hoffman requested that his son be raised in Chicago or San Francisco. If those cities also didn't make logistical sense, Hoffman asked that Cooper visit these cities at least twice a year.
The Oscar winner, however, left Los Angeles entirely off the list.
Hoffman and O'Donnell went on to have two more children, daughters Tallulah and Willa.
