The third season picks up a year after Detectives Linden (Enos) and Holder (Kinnaman) solved Rosie Larsen's murder. Although Linden has retired, she is pulled back in when Holder's search for a runaway girl leads to a string of gruesome murders connected to a previous murder investigation led by Linden.

Largely a film actor, Sarsgaard starred in Green Lantern, An Education and Flightplan. He can be seen next opposite Amanda Seyfried in Lovelace.

The Killing was initially canceled last year, but soon rumors began to spread that the series might return on Netflix, DirecTV or AMC. The network officially picked it up for a third season in January.
