Twilight and Nurse Jackiestar Peter Facinelli plans to produce a Whitey Bulger biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film would be based on the 2003 book Street Soldier: My Life as an Enforcer for Whitey Bulger and the Boston Irish Mobby Edward MacKenzie Jr., and Phyllis Karas. Facinelli says he'll be producing with Brookstreet Pictures.

Who should play Whitey?

The move to translate Bulger's life to the screen may have to do with riding Bulger's zeitgeist. After spending 16 years on the lam, the crime boss — wanted for racketeering, 19 counts of murder, extortion, money laundering, conspiracy and narcotics distribution — was nabbed last week.

Bulger previously popped up at the movies, albeit in a veiled manner, in Martin Scorsese's 2006 Oscar-winner The Departed. Jack Nicholson's Frank Costello character was based on the real-life career criminal.
