"I think this McCartney kid's got something special, and I'm gonna put him on the map!" Colbert said in a statement.
Where we left off with Falling Skies and other summer shows
McCartney, who previously appeared on a 2009 episode but did not perform, will tackle songs from his current Out There tour and 2013 album reissue of Wings over America. Two days later, McCartney will take his act to the popular Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee.
The Colbert Report airs Mondays through Thursdays at 11:30/10:30c on Comedy Central.
