Parks and Recreation Nabs Newt Gingrich as Latest Political Guest Star

Newt Gingrich

Following in the footsteps of Joe Biden and John McCain, Newt Gingrich is the latest politician to appear on NBC's Parks and Recreation.

The Indy Star reports that the former speaker of the House happened upon production of Parks and Rec at St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis on Monday when he tried to get lunch.

Final Season Report Cards: How are 30 Rock, The Office and other soon-to-be departed series faring?

Quick on his feet, series co-creator Mike Schur immediately talked to the writer and director about incorporating Gingrich into the upcoming episode. "It was a completely random chance," Schur said. "But you can't pass up on an opportunity like that."

We don't know who will be happier in the episode: Leslie Knope, at meeting yet another A-list politician, or Ron Swanson, simply for being surrounded by glorious steak.
