Like the Pen Fifteen Club song goes, "Well, Ms. Hilton, you must be worth a trillion bucks." OK, maybe not that much. But you know Fox paid Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie a mint to do The Simple Life: Interns, the third installment in their reality series, beginning tonight at 9 pm/ET with two back-to-back episodes.
This time, the harebrained heiresses (who say they'll "probably" do a fourth Simple season) go Greyhound around the East Coast trying new jobs as auto mechanics, day-care baby-sitters, TV meteorologists, tush-reading psychics and funeral directors. "That sucked," groans Paris. "We don't like dealing with dead people. It was gross." For more inspiring insights on the world of work, read our scintillating discussion...
TV Guide Online: Nicole, when did you get your new dog and where'd her name come from?
Nicole: I got her six months ago. She looks like a little fox and all my animals have two names, so I named her Foxy Cleopatra after
Beyonce in
Austin Powers: Goldmember.
TVGO: Now that's hot. Who else is hot to you two these days?
Paris: Brad Pitt is hot.
Nicole: [My dog] Honeychild's hot and my boyfriend's hot. [
Nicole's still dating DJ Adam Goldstein.]
TVGO: Paris, do you have designs on the newly single Brad?
Paris: No, 'cause I love
Jennifer Aniston, but I think they're both hot.
TVGO: Don't you both have albums coming out? Tell me about them.
Nicole: Mine'll be out this year. It's a mixture of rock and soul. I play piano, violin and cello. So I'm gonna be playing a lot of instruments on my album.
Paris: Mine comes out this year, too. It's pop rock and hip-hop. I remade "Heart of Glass" by
Blondie and "Fame" by
David Bowie and... [
trails off, mumbling]
TVGO: About the show. Now that you're well-known, were employers more willing or scared to take you on as employees?
Nicole: I think they loved it. I think they wanted to see, like, what we could possibly do at their work!
TVGO: Did you really leave your first host family with the bill for a Great Dane you bought?
Nicole: No. They were just confused. We thought [the Great Danes were] a giveaway to us.
Paris: Yeah. They're
so big.
TVGO: So did you end up paying the canine bill?
Nicole: No. [The dogs] went back to their owners.
Paris: They returned them.
TVGO: What was the scariest locale on this trip? What made you go "ew"?
Nicole: There was this one place. It wasn't like "ew," but I really didn't like where I was staying outside of Atlantic City. We stayed with these surfers and they were nuts. They were pigs.
TVGO: How will you celebrate coming home when the show wraps?
Paris: We always have our own party.
Nicole: We already had it in New York at Bungalow 8. It was pretty sexy. My boyfriend deejayed. It was fun.
TVGO: After screening the first episode, I've gotta ask: Nicole, did you really not know that New Jersey was a state?
Nicole: I was just confused because we drove from New York to somewhere in Jersey and then to Staten Island. So I just assumed that we stayed in Jersey and then someone's like, "Staten Island's in New York." I was like, "Wait...." I was just confused because they were mentioning so many places at once.
