Parenthood is saying a premature goodbye to one of its own.
John Corbett, who recurs as Seth, Sarah's ex and Amber and Drew's dad, has been cut from the Jan. 29 series finale.
"It's killing me," Corbett told TVGuide.com at Television Critics Association winter preview Sunday. "I worked hard on it. I love those people. It was a really emotional scene. I don't get asked to do that very often. I saw my grandchild for the first time. It was a very short scene. It was only maybe a page and a half of dialogue but you got to see my character, and I felt like I was a part of the show."
NBC revealed last week that Corbett, along with Matt Lauria and Sarah Ramos, were slated to guest-star in the family drama's final hour. "[Showrunner] Jason Katims called me the night before last. It was really nice of him to call me himself and tell me that it was cut," Corbett said. "He said actually about 10 of his favorite scenes had to go because of time."
Fans last saw Seth Holt a year ago when Amber went to visit him following her emotional split from Ryan. Corbett will next be seen on the new FX comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll this summer.
Parenthood's series finale airs Thursday, Jan. 29 at 10/9c on NBC. Are you sad Corbett won't be in the finale?
