Palace Malice Wins Belmont Stakes

Palace Malice won the 145th Belmont Stakes Saturday, with a finishing time of 2:30.70. Coming in second was Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow and Kentucky Derby winner Orb placed third.

This is the second Belmont victory for jockey Mike Smith, whose mount Palace Malice placed 12th in the Kentucky Derby and didn't run in the Preakness.

The final leg of the Triple Crown was expected to be a race between the two champs Orb and Oxbow, but Palace Malice, who was listed at 15-1 odds on the morning lineup, was unstoppable on the home stretch.
