OWN Announces Darlene Love Movie Starring Toni Braxton, Octavia Spencer Miniseries

Toni Braxton will star as Darlene Love in My Name Is Love: The Darlene Love Story, an upcoming TV movie about the singer that will air on OWN in December, the network announced Thursday. In addition, Octavia Spencer will star in a two-night event miniseries tentatively titled Tulsa, about the largest race riot in U.S. history, in Tulsa, Okla. Spencer will play journalist Mattie Clay.

"Coming off our most watched quarter in network history, we are excited to get to work on these new scripted projects with Octavia and Toni," OWN president Erik Logan said in a statement. "By diversifying our programming, we are also growing our audience, and these new projects put us in a great position to take the network to the next level."

Love will serve as an executive producer on her biopic, along with Oprah Winfreya nd Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom).

Oprah's Master Class will kick off its fourth season on May 11 with Justin Timberlake. Other guests this season include Whoopi GoldbergRobin Roberts,Barbara Walters and Tim McGraw.

The best and worst series finales

In 2015, the network will air Belief, a seven-part television event that will travel around the world to explore mankind's ongoing search for connection with something greater than ourselves.

OWN has also given 20-episode season orders to Tyler Perry's series The Haves and the Have Nots (premiering May 27) and Single Moms Club, which will premiere in the fall.
